Note
Changes to the CEG : 1) NPC - PHL 103 PHIL 110 at UA in CCM but DEC in the CEG. Review transferability to UA.
2) TOCC - PHI 101 is listed on the CCM but a search on the CEG results in "Course Not Found". Submit the course for review.
Changes to Majors on Common Course Matrix : ASU, Tempe and Online: BA Morality, Politics, and Law
NAU: BA Philosophy, Politics, and Law
UA: Philosophy - General and Ethics Emphasis
Changes to Common Course Matrices : MCCCD: Keep PHI 101, remove PHI 102. PHI 102 is no longer offered. PHI 101 is offered and is equivalent to courses on the CCM.
Changes to Exam Equivalency Matrices : DSST Ethics in America: ASU & NAU - NT; AWC - Under Review
In general faculty found it difficult to obtain enough information to designate it as anything but NT or Under Review without further documentation regarding the test content, modality (written component or just multiple choice?), and grading rubric.
Record of Voting : 2015 minutes approved unanimously.
AGEC Information : n/a
Additional Comment/ Discussion Items : ATF members want to explore ways to create a pool of qualified adjuncts willing to travel or teach online so that courses can be taught at the rural institutions where there is difficulty finding qualified faculty.
Issues Raised : If MCCCD is planning to accept credits from ITT specifically, and potentially from other non-regionally accredited institutions, how will that affect students who transfer to other CCs or Universities? Other CCs and Universities may not accept credits from institutions which are not regionally accredited based on their policies and procedures. This could raise a lot of problems.
Curriculum Planning : ASU: PHI 103 is not a major requirement, but it is a prerequisite for PHI 333, an upper division logic course requirement.
ASU: New course: Philosophy of Sex and Love, which is not a degree requirement. Mesa CC has a course that may have a direct equivalency. They will submit it for evaluation.
UA: PHIL 110 is required for the Logic or Math.
UA: Offers a degree through the Eller Business College "Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law". It is an interdisciplinary degree and not offered through the Philosophy Department.
All Universities: Law-oriented majors have differing course requirements than the Philosophy majors. Case in point: NAU's PHI 105, Introduction to Ethics, is not a requirement for the Philosophy B.A. but is a requirement for the Philosophy, Politics, and Law B.A.
Mesa CC: PHI 102 & 113 are no longer offered and may be deactivated.
ASSIST Report Comments : Does ASSIST data include statistics for concurrent enrollment at CCs and Universities?
Is ASSIST able to articulate why we are seeing upward trends for transfer?
