Record of the Votes : Unanimous vote for 2015 Communication ATF minutes approval
Issues Raised : a. The Exam Equivalency Guide holds data for AP, Cambridge International Exams, CLEP, DSST, and IB. Please review data if there are exams relevant to your discipline.
i. The Communication discipline rarely uses Exams for Credit. Only one example was discussed by the group and the group felt there was insufficient use of such exams to warrant establishing cutoff points for the Communication field.
Curriculum Planning : 10. Curricular Updates (ATF Chair)
a. Update on university general education requirements
i. The university programs continue to expand and graduation rates have been good. No major changes in the curriculum for any of the institutions is being planned.
ii. There is interest in expanding transfer scholarships for community college transfer students.
iii. All institutions including community colleges are being required to increase and document assessment of learning outcomes, classes and programs with increased requirements from accrediting agencies. Pima Community College has had increased pressure in this area but other community colleges and universities report the same demands from their accrediting groups.
b. Communication programs continuing to do well at all institutions but with limited increases in faculty positions and funding.

CEG changes : None
ASSIST Report Comments : Information was helpful.
Other Comments : c. Each spring, AZTransfer develops and hosts the AZTransfer Summit, a two day conference focusing on transfer in Arizona. Are there relevant practices, research, or other topics within your institutions that could be submitted as session proposals?
i. The AZTransfer Summit appears to be administrative oriented and topics not of interest or relevance for faculty members. There might be an option of having a session focused on academic class assessment requirements for accrediting agencies at the AZTransfer Summit as all institutions are having the same problem.
