The following community colleges should send their Social Problems course to UA through ACETS and ask for a possible direct equivalency to SOC 150B1 since this is now a SUN course, as of 2014. Their courses already receive direct equivalencies from ASU and NAU.

Unanimous vote to to elect the common course, Sociology of Gender, to be a new SUN course. See Common Course Matrix for course numbers.
Warren Lucas (NAU- SOC) was able to provide info. on the BS degree. However, group wanted a rep. from NAU Extended to attend to tell them more about the new B degree with SOCIO courses. Update: NAU Extended rep. elected is Seth Wright. He will attend next ATF to present info. on new B degree to this group. Also, should this new degree be added to the Matrix as a shared major? How about the SOCIO courses? They are offered at NAU and should be added to the portal page. However, discussion needs to take place from the group on if these common courses apply to the new B degree as prep or not (will determine if degree should be on matrix or not). On SOC ATF Portal Page - NAU Extended has a new SOCIO prefix to add (no changes to current NAU SOC prefix). Degree list - NAU Extended is now offering a B degree in Sociology. |

Carol Jenkins shared some notes on the future of the Sociology discipline.
Sociology is designated as a STEM discipline. The Mathematics ATF Members are discussing common requirements for courses to help their adjunct faculty. Do we want to look at that for SOC? We can research expectations for 101 courses (Google) Follow the status of MOOCS which are free courses now being offered online Be cautious on choosing texts |
