Changes to Exam Equivalency Matrices : * The AP Exam matrix for Environmental Science was not accepted by this group, which approved a motion to forward the matrix to the appropriate departments at the individual institutions.
* The IB Exam matrix for Biology was not approved. A motion to accept a score of 5 for equivalency with BIO 100 and a score of 6+ for equivalency with BIO 181 and BIO 182 was tabled until the ATF could learn more about the meaning of these IB scores and then take a vote online.
* The CLEP exam matrix for Biology was approved so that a score of 50 or higher would have an equivalency of 3 elective credits of non-laboratory science.
* The CLEP exam matrix for Natural Sciences was approved so that a score of 50 or higher would have an equivalency of 3 elective credits of non-laboratory science.
* The DSST exam matrix for Environment and Humanity was approved so that a score of 53 or higher would have an equivalency of 3 elective credits of non-laboratory science.

Record of Voting : II. - The minutes from the 2009 Biology ATF meeting were approved by majority vote without changes.
IV.B. - The members approved the existing pathways.
V.B. - The motion to approve the AP Biology exam as an equivalency to a natural science elective was tabled until the members had more information. A vote will be taken via email in spring of 2011. The AP Biology exam matrix was accepted as written. Where there are gaps in the matrix, the institution must research to see if there is an equivalent course to input. The AP Exam matrix for Environmental Science was not accepted, but a motion was approved to forward the matrix to the appropriate departments at the individual institutions.

Curriculum Planning : * NAU-Yuma is developing their own gen ed program independent of NAU-Flagstaff.
* UA is offering an experimental course designed to integrate the lecture/lab components of BIO 181.
* There were some concerns raised that Biology programs might be becoming too specialized at the undergraduate level.
