Additional Comment/ Discussion Items : Guests: Carol Johnston and Sean Coronel from ASU gave a presentation about ASU's new BAS in Food Service Management. This program accepts 60 credits of completed AAS--very open ended; any AAS will satisfy.
The chair of Parks & Recreation, Tourism, and Nonprofit Management, Pam Foti, represented their ATF at Hospitality ATF, and Larry Williams, Hospitality ATF chair, attended the PRMTNM ATF the following week. This is a lead-in to a collaborative meeting next year.
Changes to Pathways :
Issues Raised :
Curriculum Planning : Concern was expressed by the community colleges that NAU's HA 100, Intro to Hospitality, has changed from three to one credit. Colleges feel their students need the content of the three credits in their equivalent course, and 2 of those are being converted to elective at NAU. Considerable discussion about the proposed NAU FCBA requirement for students to complete pathways (for credit) and how those might be addressed in transfer, as similar activities are embedded in the Hospitality curricula at the CC's. Possibility of completion of the 3-credit intro course satisfying some of those pathway credits was discussed. NAU Hospitality/FCBA may consider alternatives.
