Additional Comment/ Discussion Items : There was considerable discussion about using alternate external tests in occupational areas in the same way that AP or CLEP exams are used for AA/BA/BS degree completers. It was noted that usage of alternate exams and certifications could and is variable by the receiving institutions. It was also noted that a student should always check with the incoming institution to see if they accept credit by examination on the transcript. ATF members agreed that APASC should be informed of this discussion as it might be an emerging area to encourage degree completion at state institutions of higher ed. The group thought that the Board of Regents would need to determine a maximum number of credits that could be used in this way.

There was discussion of NT courses in ACETS and when the universities must give feedback as to why a course is non-transferrable. Members were concerned about courses that were NOT direct equivalents but DEC or E. If these were determined to be NT, would universities provide reasons why? This should be brought to APASC for further clarification.

Changes to Pathways :
Issues Raised : See attachment on FACS ATF Questions Raised 10-2-09.
Curriculum Planning : Due to NAU's NCATE certification, a number of courses in the CEGs will be changing to "electives" in the coming year. Also, because the State of Arizona has changed requirements for FACS teachers, NAU will be changing to make things less restrictive, effective Fall 2010. There are major changes to the BS in Family & Human Development at ASU, effective Fall 2010, which will require changes in the CEGs and CCM.
