Nursing Major Guide 2023-2024

South Mountain Community College

Nursing majors learn the skills to provide clinical, therapeutic, and educational services to the public. Working with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals, nursing students gain hands-on experience in a variety of health care settings. Nursing students learn core responsibilities such as patient assessment, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, providing care to diverse patient groups, and advise patients on health and wellness. Nursing majors are prepared to take the national licensure exam to obtain state licensure as a registered nurse (RN). For this major, it may not be beneficial to complete an AGEC. Please speak to your community college advisor for more information.
