Communications majors study how humans interact with each other through written, oral, and relational communications. Students explore and analyze communications within different environments including in public, political, social, organizational, and cultural contexts. Other topics include work and personal relationships, social influence, conflict resolution, social media and technology, and global communication. Because communication is the most basic social behavior, students with communications degrees are prepared for a broad range of careers or graduate study.
For students interested in specific communication skills such as public relations, journalism, see the Journalism or Media Arts major guides.
